EARTHQUAKE victims in Haiti were given excellent support by Congresbury villagers, who crowded Congresbury Methodist Hall last week for a coffee morning and cake sale. So many turned up that the kitchen staff ran out of cups, and the morning raised £450 for the earthquake appeal. Kath Chaplin and Mary Krawczenko appreciated the excellent support from the village.
MUSIC was the theme when local farmer Andrew Sheppy gave a lively and entertaining talk to Congresbury Ladies Friendly Circle last week.

YOUNG PEOPLE in Congresbury are to be asked what facilities they would like in their play areas, after £31,500 has been allocated to the village from a Playbuilder scheme. The scheme is Government funded and Sharon Bradley, North Somerset consultation officer, will contact schools, youth clubs and other youth organisations, asking for ideas to redevelop or enhance existing play areas. She is looking at the King George V playing field and the Millennium Green, and, after 6/8 weeks of consultation, will present a report to all interested parties, including the parish council.

Congresbury is a Village known for its community Pride. With all the problems it now faces from traffic congestion, inappropriate development, job losses and the recession the one thing that continues to flourish is its strong community spirit.
The last year has been one of highs and lows.
